The city of Nancy

A city rich in history

Nancy, the second largest urban area in the East of France, is the former capital of the Dukes of Lorraine. Our city is recognized for its rich architectural history by UNESCO: Place Stanislas, la Ville Vieille, its houses built in the style of the « École de Nancy »…

In order to appreciate this richness, go for a walk in the Vieille Ville, have a seat on the terrace of a café, visit the Jardins d’Eau, the Parc de la Pépinière or one of the many shaded areas of town.

A city of culture

Nancy is also a city of culture, home to many museums such as the Musée des Beaux Arts, the Musée de l’École de Nancy, the Musée de Fer or the Musée Lorrain.

The Opéra, the Ballet and the Orchestre Symphonique Lyrique truly make Nancy a city of the fine arts.

A fun city

Nancy is above all else a modern university city numbering over 50 000 students.

You will find a number of cinemas in the center of town as well as cinematographic center close by, and of course night clubs and bars which the advisors of the Summer Session for Foreign Students will gladly help you to explore.

A gourmet city

Nancy is well-known for culinary delights and local products. Everyone in France is familiar with bergamot, macaroons, quiche lorraine and mirabelles.

Come visit us to taste our regional recipes which are often accompanied by stories and anecdotes which add to their flavor.

Arrival in France

At Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle Airport, the station to Nancy is located on Terminal 2. Please follow the signs « Gare SNCF Railway Station » and « Grandes Lignes – Mainline Services ». Don’t follow the signs “Paris by train”. Your destination is “Lorraine TGV”. At “Lorraine TGV” (75min), you’ll find the shuttle that will take you to the station “Nancy Saint-Léon” (30min) where we will pick you up to take you to the Residence.

Select « NANCY » and not « LORRAINE TGV » when booking your train ticket online on the SNCF website. This way, the shuttle between Lorraine TGV and Nancy will be included. In case of a delay in the train schedule, no worries: there is a shuttle for every train arriving to Lorraine TGV, and only one destination without stop: NANCY.

If you arrive at Beauvais-Tillé airport, there are several ways to reach Nancy :

Arrival in Nancy

The Director and our team will be on hand to greet you from Saturday June 27th to Sunday June 28th 2026, from 10am to 10pm.

Whether you arrive by train or bus shuttle from Lorraine TGV (station which provides a connection to Roissy-Charles-De-Gaulle Airport), our team awaits you at Nancy SNCF train station, Hall Saint-Léon.

For any arrival at another location (Eurolines bus station for example) or outside of these reception hours, please let us know in advance so that we can come and meet you.

Underage Students

Our program accepts underage students who are a part of a group or who enroll on an individual basis.

Underage students must be at least 12 years of age and parental approval of their participation is required.
Underage students participating in our program receive extra attention from our staff. Our counselors are available around the clock and live in the same residence halls as our students. Upon arrival, each participant receives our counselors’ room numbers and telephone contact information. We urge our students to report any unusual behavior immediately to our counselors.

IMPORTANT : Please note that our program is not a summer vacation camp, but rather an intensive language-learning workshop. Students participating in our program are free to come and go as they choose. Each program participant is housed in a private single room in a co-educational setting and is finished with a key allowing him or her access.

Students are free to request a room next to an adult or another student of their acquaintance. Our program does not restrict the behavior of its participants, regardless of their age. We do not attempt to control students’ daily schedules, their associations or their night-time activities. Underage students participating in the program remain under the full responsibility of their parents or legal guardians, who are asked to sign a legal release relieving the Cours d’été of responsibility toward the underage student.

In addition, we ask that parents or legal guardians as well as their underage student sign our code of conduct agreement requiring our underage students to conform to a certain number of rules. Violation of the terms of this agreement could lead to expulsion from the Cours d’été.

The registration of underage students cannot be honored without the completed and signed legal release and code of conduct documents. Both the legal release and the code of conduct forms should be submitted at the time of the payment of the 250€ deposit as email attachments and as postal letters sent to our mailing address.
